Image Manager

The Image manager that is available for the JCE Editor is one of the most useful plugins of the Editor and worth installing just for that alone!

You have to remember that you CAN NOT just cut and paste images from your local machine into your content. The image needs to be uploaded to the server. The Image Manager helps you to do do this.

Here is a screenprint of what the most recent version of the Image Manager looks like:

One of the most important buttons in the Image Manager is the upload button (this is the one circled in red). You can use this button to upload an image from your hard disk to the server (thereby bypassing having to use the Joomla Media Manager). After you have uploaded it, it is ready to be inserted into your content.

Positioning your images:

This can be a bit tricky!

In order to upload photos you can select the ‘Image Upload' Button to upload an image directly. It will become available in the center block (you might have to scroll down to see the new image that was just loaded). Click on the image and then on Insert to insert the image directly into your content. Please note that you can choose the alignment of the image. This alignment is in relation to a paragraph as a whole.

So if your paragraph is like this

content

and you want the picture to appear to the RIGHT of the paragraph, the insertion point is at the beginning of the paragraph (where the arrow is), but the alignment of the picture is ‘Right' (see below).

align-right

This will position the picture to the right of the paragraph. If you put your cursor at the end of the paragraph and then insert the picture, it will just appear AFTER the paragraph and below it, not to the right of the paragraph. In other words, instead of this:

image-right

You might end up with this:
