New OsCommerce-Pricetag Interface
For those of you using Pricetag with OSCommerce, you will have received notification already that the Pricetag System is changing. There are two options for interfacing with Pricetag - the HTTP POST interface, and the web services interface. For the POST interface the buyer will leave the OSCommerce website and be directed to the Pricetag secure website, where they will enter their credit card details. The POST method is not changing radically, the changes are merely to fit in with their new administration system.

After the transaction has been completed, the customer must click on a link to return to your OSCommerce website. If they don't do that, the transaction is not completed. This has long been a bugbear problem for OSCommerce/Pricetag users.

The only consolation is that Pricetag is not the only payment processor that works in this way. 2Checkout, for example, works the same, with the result that you might end up with the transactions sitting in the shopping basket and not transferred over to the completed orders side. You, as the website owner now has the problem that the shopper has paid for the goods but you don't know what they bought!

There are only two 'solutions' for this problem. The one is that I suggest that the OsCommerce website owner makes a nice big logo for their website that they can place on the Pricetag payment page with not only the logo, but also the words "Please click on the link below to return to our website in order to complete the order" - or words to that effect. The second option is a contribution that was developed for this problem that can be found on the OSCommerce plugins site:

Here is the HTTP POST interface for OSCommerce and Pricetag to fit in with the new administration system. This is NOT the web services interface yet - I just haven't had a chance to develop that yet.

** Update 2007-07-01 : I have since developed the webservices interface for Pricetag/OSCommerce and it can be downloaded from the list below at the bottom of the page
